This beautiful family of 3 just became 4 when baby girl Kennedy arrived EXACTLY on her due date. The maternity session was so fun, and big sister Scarlett was Miss Model during both shoots. Kennedy was awake most of her shoot, and did not cry once. 7 days old, and she laid there, wide-eyed, letting us move, twist and turn her for the perfect photos.
I started documenting this love story last year in Brooklyn, where we did engagement photos at the same spot Ab proposed to Robin months earlier. Next was their wedding at the amazing West Hills Country Club, which has the most beautiful grounds, delicious food, and talented staff. It ended with the most beautiful Indian ceremony in Danbury Ct.
She grew up on a farm in Northeast Ohio, he grew up on a farm in Sullivan County NY. They met when she came over with my husband and I to help our good friends bale hay. Bare handed, she caught, threw, and stacked hay like no other. We knew they were perfect for each other, but we just sat by and watched, and a year later… This happened..:
Check back for their barn wedding at the beautiful Barn on Hubbard!
Just finished this engagement shoot with Matt and Clare. Pretty happy about this shot, taken at the Harriman Train Station. Timing is everything. Check back for their barn wedding happening this September at The Hill in Hudson.
Its amazing how many beautiful barns there are in this area, and what a great idea to turn these buildings into wedding venues! They are often surrounded by gorgeous vistas, mountains, trees and flowers, and it is a photographers dream!
Check out some of these barns here in the Hudson Valley!
As I have mentioned in previous posts, what I love about photography is the journeys I get to go on with different families. Not having children of my own, I love being able to document the love and happiness in these families as they bring a new child into this world, and then another, and sometimes another.. and then when they contact me a year later, and the next, and the next, to document their children growing up, it makes my heart happy. Here’s a family that I started with 3 years ago when Michael was one week old.
One year later:
And the next year:
And just last week:
Jen was referred to me by a former client who hired me to take her maternity and newborn photos. (Thank you Gina!) Even though this shoot was the first time we had met, they were so friendly, down to earth and easy to hang out with, it felt like hanging out with old friends. And soon I get to see them again when Baby E arrives!
BABY ETHAN HAS ARRIVED!
I think my favorite part about photographing weddings is the connection, the friendship that develops between myself and the bride and groom. It starts with the engagement photos, where everyone is a little nervous, its a tiny bit awkward, but then by the end we already feel like we’ve known each other for a while, and the guys always say, every time… “that wasn’t as bad as I thought”. If I can get a groom to say that… Success!!
My history with Dan and Mary began in 2012 when, might I add, through a rigorous interview process (Mary does her homework!), they chose me to be their wedding photographer. When you are choosing your photographer, you’re not just choosing the cheapest photographer, or even the one with the coolest photos on their website, you’re choosing the one that is going to make you feel comfortable, the one that you can be yourself around, the one that you will want to be the “family” photographer for the important moments and events that will happen down the road.
Fast forward 3 years later.. This just happened. Perfection.
California boy meets Long Island girl. They met in Manhattan when he spent the weekend with his friends sightseeing. She was with her friends hanging out in the city and little did they know, somewhere in the group there was a mutual friend.. a mutual friend who happened to love Chipotle as much as they did. Enough said.
